Legendary Fine-Jewelry Brand Marina B Relaunches

Anyone remotely familiar with the bold, iconic jewelry pieces designed by Marina Bulgari back in the 1980s, when disco dancing was still king, may remember the meteoric rise of her eponymous fine-jewelry line called Marina B, which became the first “it” jewelry brand.

From the 1980s to the late 1990s, Marina B was worn by international jet setters whose playgrounds included Ibiza, Saint-Tropez, and St. Moritz, and by movie stars like Sophia Loren. Marina B was years ahead of her time with jewelry that transcended chic.

With her legendary jewelry-dynasty heritage, Marina B’s marketing strategy had her own jewelry designs on celebrities, making her the forerunner of all the celebrity stylists who do red-carpet award-show accessories for their movie-star clients.

Marina B’s distinctive fine jewelry is set to make a comeback with its relaunch in the United States this spring by Windsor Jewelers, Inc. The modern motifs of her designs, which use 18-karat yellow gold, diamonds, and semiprecious gemstones, are considered timeless by collectors.

Her designs, which will be re-created to the exact specifications of her sketches, which are owned by Windsor Jewelers, Inc., are strong and stylish without appearing to be “dated.”

Now living in Monte Carlo, Marina Bulgari hails from one of the world’s famous jewelry dynasties and created jewelry for Bulgari until the mid-1970s. The new Marina B collection will be largely based on the best archive pieces and designs of Marina B, according to Trends and Colours (www.CIJintl.com). Marina B herself identified the pieces as her bestsellers.

Paul Lubetsky, the CEO of Windsor Jewelers, Inc., is a passionate fan and collector of Marina B’s designs and is in charge of the brand’s launch. He has sought out Marina B’s original jewelers in Italy to make the pieces in order to bring the brand full circle.

Marina B’s distinctive designs and craftsmanship will fill a gap in today’s jewelry market.
